A faceted cedar jewel

Affectionately known as “big boy,” this massive 3-ft by 3-ft cedar block was hauled from a ravine after a wind storm brought it down. Finish carpenter Aiden Brehan (and geology major) sculpted and shaped this beautiful cornerstone like a fine jewel for all to admire.

Fun fact: We sourced this tree from our neighbor’s 12-acre wooded property

A perch with privacy

The existing mezzanine in the space offered a lovely elevated vantage point to enjoy the city’s bustle. We wanted to seat people at it’s outward edge, but give patrons comfort that upward glancing eyes from below didn’t find more than they were looking for. A fluted acrylic panel successfully obscured transparency while passing light through.

Carefully crafted metalwork captures the panels for enhanced railing rigidity, and integrates top and hand rails flawlessly.
